Northeast Road Reserve - Swales

Series of Swales

Tea Tree Gully Council have done a wonderful project here adjacent North-East Road and Tea Tree Plaza.

Infiltration and Flow

The swales are not lined at their base so water can infiltrate to the subsoil while also moving down hill

Planting palette

The designers have used a simple planting plan, focusing on a terrestrial grass and groundcover species for the batters (banks), and an aquatic species for the wetter areas

Aesthetics

Use of natural rock gives the feeling these assets have been here for a long time. The combination of rock, plants, turf and water all combine to make it visually appealling for the community to enjoy
