Kerb Tree Inlets - Passive Irrigation

Capture Zone.png

Innovative Design

Patented by an SA company SpaceDownunder, these stainless steel inlet plates have revolutionized the ability to absorb water into the verge to passively irrigate street trees. Whether retro-fitting or installing new kerbs, the concrete gutter is profiled to form a dish so water 'eddies', sediment drops and just water enters the slots

Storage and Infiltration

3 different types of infiltration system are available. The Trench style (pictured) has 275L capacity, and a pit style has 200L. This is storage capacity, but being perforated, then water infiltrates to the soil over time, thus continually increasing capacity between rain events

Potential to Scale-Up

These inlet systems installed strategically in a catchment can achieve stormwater volume reductions of up to 10%. This can bring about reduced fresh water and pollution to our coastal ecosystems and provide urban cooling by boosting street tree canopy.
