Ingle Farm Disability Housing

Accessible Housing
Accessible Housing is provided for those with disability and require special consideration for access and usability in their home. The budget was at the lower end of per square metre but I could see the possibilities.
Site Conditions
We encountered compacted layers of rubble and clay soils which made for heavy digging. We conditioned all the soils with compost and gypsum. Instead of just doing some random plantings or different for each home, I wanted to tie them together.

Many Hands
It was a great opportunity to get almost all of the team on one project at the same time. It was very satisfying for us all to witness the gardens take shape.
Site Work
The girls from the office got involved digging and planting - we had a fun time which creating something nice for disadvantaged folk. For the office staff it gave their work and roles more meaning when they could experience what was happening on the ground as an extension of their work.

Community
With the simple but effective landscape design, the residents had a feeling of connection with their neighbours.
Before
Each back yard on the other had, was designed also to suit the specific residents

After
The planting budget for the back yards was minimal but it was a start. Scope for more.
